The Toothache

This information is not intended to replace medical advice or treatment. If conditions worsen or persist, consult your health care practitioner.

Toothache can be intermittent, yet very excruciating. There's one common remedy, which however relieves only the pain, not any underlying causes. If tooth or gum pain persists, visiting the dentist (no matter how painful THAT thought is!!) is the rational way to go.

  • Clove oil.
Clove oil contains eugenol, which is a potent topical reliever of pain, possessing both analgesic and antiseptic properties. It is generally used by dipping a cotton ball (or finger) into the oil, and applying on the affected tooth or gum. There's a minor initial shock, followed by a numbness. Clove oil is readily available in the flavorings section of most supermarkets.
